Six arrested for kidnapping after Sheffield armed police incident

Six people have been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping after an armed police incident in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police were called to Blackstock Road in Gleadless at about 6pm last night (Friday) over the incident.

Armed officers were on the scene and police have confirmed exclusively to The Star tonight that six people have been arrested.

All six were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping.

Of the six, two have been bailed pending further enquiries and the other four remain in police custody for further questioning.

A statement issued by the force said: “Police responded to an incident at around 6pm yesterday, Friday 9 January, in the Gleadless area of Sheffield.

“Six people have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap. Of the six, two have been bailed pending further enquiries and four remain in custody being questioned by officers this evening.

“Enquiries are ongoing.

“At this time, police do not believe there is a continued risk to any individuals or any risk to the wider community.”
