The Sheffield Steelkings Sledge Hockey Club has been awarded a £300 donation from the MARS Milk Play Fund, which helps clubs and groups play more sport.

Two £300 grants per week are awarded.

Sheffield Steelkings is a sledge hockey club based at IceSheffield skating rink.

It is a sport similar to ice hockey for people with lower body disabilities.

The group is one of only five teams in the country.

Club chairman Kim McGreal said: “We provide all equipment and kit for newcomers to come along and give sledge hockey a try for free, meaning we are always in desperate need for additional funds to buy equipment.

“We can now provide additional kit to get more physically disabled people on the ice.”
