An animal rescue charity needed saving after it issued its own cry for help.
South Yorkshire Pet Ambulance feared it would be unable to attend call-outs or provide life-saving services for pets and other animals after its main vehicle packed up.
With funding tight, the charity was unable to afford the £3,000 needed to rebuild the engine ahead of the busiest time of year.
But, in the spirit of the season of goodwill, Mansfield Group garage, on Parkway industrial estate, Sheffield, agreed to carry out some of the repair work free of charge.
And kind-hearted couple John and Clare Illingsworth, of Worrall, footed the rest of the bill.
Alan Webster, of South Yorkshire Pet Ambulance, said: “Christmas and New Year is our busiest time so we were really worried.
“Mansfield completely rebuilt the engine and got us back on the road – we can’t thank them enough.”
