A RAPIST from Rotherham who repeatedly subjected an underage girl to harrowing sex attacks has been told by Appeal Court judges that his 18-year jail term was not a day too long.

David Henderson, aged 47, of Jackson Crescent, Rawmarsh, plied his victim with alcohol before forcing himself on her.

The girl was aged just 12 when she was raped for the first time.

Henderson was locked up for 18 years after being convicted of five counts of rape at Sheffield Crown Court last November.

He had taken his case to the Court of Appeal, claiming he had been treated too harshly.

But Judge Melbourne Inman QC said: “He used alcohol to achieve what he wanted and intimidation to continue it. A sentence of 18 years in total is not manifestly excessive.”
