SPORTS days are special for pupils at Sheffield’s St Wilfrid’s Roman Catholic Primary School - because they get to do battle in the wide open spaces of the English Institute of Sport at Attercliffe.
Everyone enjoyed last year’s event so much the Millhouses school came back to the Attercliffe venue for second helping - and they’re planning to book in for 2013 too.
Youngsters took part in a variety of track and field events and mounted the podium to receive their winners’ medals.
“Coming to the EIS does make sports day more of an occasion,” said headteacher Barbara Jarrett.
“For many of the children it is the only chance they will ever have to run on a proper track and we’ve had great feedback from teachers and parents on the whole event.
“It is such an impressive venue,” Mrs Jarrett added.
