A STAR wrestler took time out from grappling with opponents in the ring to sign autographs for thrilled fans in Sheffield.

Kane, who competes in the WWE league, visited Smyths Toy Superstore on the Drakehouse retail park, where supporters queued up to meet the wrestling favourite in the flesh.

The shop made 400 tickets available for the event, during which Kane appeared wearing his signature red mask and signed pictures, as well as memorabilia.

Young fan Mason Gittens, aged eight, and his brother Spencer, three, dared to incur the wrath of the fearsome wrestler by bringing along a sign reading: ‘My dad is scarier than you.’

But the star - whose real name is Glenn Jacobs - took the joke in good humour, and autographed the placard.

The 44-year-old wrestler, who once worked as a teacher, has accumulated 17 championship titles during his career, which started in 1992.
