THE lives of women who lived and worked in industrial times are to be brought to life at an event in Sheffield.
Traditional crafts and skills, including forging and grinding, will be demonstrated at the Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet on Sunday as part of a series of events exploring the lives, living conditions and working environments for industrial workers.
Niki Connolly, events and marketing manager at Sheffield Industrial Museum’s Trust, said: “The theme is the role of women and the valuable skills that were an essential part of everyday life in the hamlet’s history.
“Our women ‘living history’ characters will capture and share the memories of workers from this time and reveal the living conditions and experiences by carrying tours of the hamlet and its buildings.
“The material used is a true reflection of the living conditions and we hope to set the scene through the eyes of local people.”
