Stranded OAP rescued from national park’s highest point

A pensioner was helped by mountain rescuers when he got lost in heavy rain on Kinder Scout in the Peak District national park.

The 69-year-old man was rescued on Friday night after venturing on to Kinder Scout – the highest point in the Peak District – in the late afternoon.

A spokesman for Buxton Mountain Rescue said the man, from Nottingham, was found ‘stranded and disorientated’ at Crowden Head by a volunteer out walking at the time, and a rescue party was sent to bring him to safety.

The man was checked by a nurse before being allowed home after 11.30pm.
