With literary festival Off the Shelf kicking off this weekend along with the brand new Crookes Street Market, there are plenty of events going on. Here are our top picks.

Opening Up The Book

Sheffield International Artist’s Book Prize is the largest in the world, with entries from forty five countries. The exhibition, opening this weekend, showcases over 200 books.

Crookes Street Market

Shop over 30 stalls on the opening weekend of Crookes Street Market. The Lord Mayor of Sheffield will kick off a day of food and beer from local independent businesses as well as a performance by the Chorus Choir at midday.

Bardo & Galore

Theatre company The Bare Project has been putting on immersive theatre experiences since 2012. Their latest production, Bardo & Galore, is based on first-hand accounts of psychosis.

The annual literary festival is back with a jam-packed schedule of events for the entire month. A talk by columnist and author Owen Jones is already sold out, but a screening of the live event will take place at the University of Sheffield Students’ Union for £3 on Saturday.

Sheffield Model Railway Society Annual Show

Founded in 1963, the Model Railway Society now consists of about 30 members who meet twice a week. Their annual show this weekend is bound to be a crowd pleaser with 15 different model layouts. Bring the whole family along for this annual event.
