The Royal National Institute of Blind People is urging South Yorkshire residents to take part in its annual appeal.
Read for RNIB Day, takes place on October 19.
Every penny raised will help provide services such as braille, talking books and giant print for people with sight loss.
Participants are urged to host a literary lunch for friends and family, organise a book sale or a sponsored read.
Research has shown only seven per cent of books are accessible to the UK’s two million blind and partially sighted.
