It was standing room only as hundreds of people packed out a small church to bid a tearful farewell to Sheffield’s popular ‘cat lady’.
Family and friends gathered at Grenoside Crematorium to pay their respects to Jackie Longley, the founder and patron of the Cat Abuse Treatment Society in Firth Park.
Jackie, who devoted her life to caring for abandoned cats, passed away suddenly aged 68.
There were tears and laughter as Jackie’s cousin shared stories from her life - including the tale of when she scooped the title of Miss Eastbourne while doing a summer job down south.
Pieter Wing, a CATS patron, said: “You don’t normally hear of funerals being beautiful, but this was.
“Jackie would have been so touched to see just how much she meant to other people.”
