Teeing off for a worthy cause

A FIRM of funeral directors in Sheffield and a city crematorium teamed up for a golf day to raise money for charity.

The event at Hillsborough Golf Club raised £800 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

John Fairest Funeral Directors, of Wadsley Bridge, and staff from Grenoside Crematorium joined forces for the fundraiser.

Steve Willis, manager at John Fairest, said the golf day had been a great success and they were pleased with the amount of money raised.

He said: “We wanted to raise money for a worthy cause and we have worked closely with the local nurses in the past, so we are delighted to hand over £800.”

Katie Grinter, community fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: “We want to say a huge thank you for raising such an amazing amount of money.”
