SHEFFIELD will stage a wedding show with a difference later this year as it combines the best of two cultures.
The East Meets West Wedding Fayre will be held at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane ground on Sunday, October 9, in association with the Sheffield Telegraph.
It is the first time a single event in the city has featured both Asian and traditional western weddings and promises to be a spectacular occasion.
Two fashion shows will be held during the fayre, one concentrating on the finest outfits available for Asian brides, grooms and guests, and the other bringing together outstanding traditional dresses and suits from the west.
One lucky visitor will win a wedding for up to 75 guests at Sheffield United, including a drinks reception, wedding breakfast, evening buffet, DJ and disco.
Sheffield United will also offer a 10% discount to anyone who books their wedding and confirms with a deposit on the day.
Emma McSkelly, who heads the Sales & Events team at Sheffield United, said: “We are really proud to be working alongside the Sheffield Telegraph for this event and it gives us the perfect opportunity to bring together the best of both worlds. That is what will make this fayre unique.
“Bramall Lane has not always been hailed as a natural wedding venue for but that is all changing and we are seeing the benefits with increased bookings from all areas of the community, including a lot of Asian weddings.
“We have a dedicated wedding co-ordinator and a fabulous new Head Chef Martin Tustin-Smith, who puts on incredible wedding breakfasts.’’
In fact, Emma has been so impressed by the offer at Bramall Lane that she will be having her own wedding reception there later in October. “It’s really not because I work there,’’ she said. “We actually live about 40 miles away but we couldn’t find anything to compare to both the food and the standard of service here.’’
Chris Hague, commercial manager at Sheffield Newspapers, said: “We are incredibly excited about the East Meets West Wedding Fayre because it is so different. There has never been anything like it in the city and the response we have had so far has been remarkable.
“We have had great success in the past with our traditional wedding events but this time we are widening the approach and it should be a great day.’’
Every aspect of planning the perfect wedding will be covered by the many exhibitors already confirmed, including photography and videos, wedding cars and limos, venue decoration, flowers, gift lists, suit hire, cakes, accessories, hair and beauty, plus the all-important honeymoon.
