SHEFFIELD Wednesday’s promotion party is set to go on with thousands of jubilant Owls fans expected to pack into Sheffield city centre tomorrow.

And United are also rewarding their own loyal fans as the Blades prepare to make it a Sheffield double by plotting a course to the Championship via the play-offs.

Wednesdayites will be able to see their heroes take a bow at civic reception to be held at the Town Hall.

The players are due to appear on the balcony at 6pm.

Meanwhile, less than 1,400 Sheffield United supporters will be present when the Blades take on Stevenage in the first leg of their crucial play off semi-final.

United have been sent an allocation of just 1,390 tickets for the game to be played on Friday at the Lamex Stadium, Broadhall Way, Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Tiny as it is, the allocation is equivalent to almost 25 per cent of the capacity at the stadium which holds just 6,546 fans.

David McCarthy, Blades managing director, said tickets were being sold on a sliding scale which ensured the Blades’ most loyal fans had priority when purchasing.

He said the club expected that all the tickets would have gone by this morning and he thanked fans for their loyalty.

As a reward, United fans travelling to the game are being offered discounted prices after the board at Bramall Lane subsided tickets for the coach journey.

Travel tickets have been pegged at £18.

Ticket prices for the home fixture which takes place at Bramall Lane on Monday have also been slashed and start at just £13, or £7 for concessions.

Mr McCarthy said they are selling well.

He added: “The directors have generously subsidised away travel for our supporters as a thank you.

“We understand the financial situation our fans face at this current time and have pegged prices for the home leg at category C prices.

“We did so as a reward to our fans for the loyalty they have shown all season.”

Both play-off games will be shown live on Sky TV.
