THE mad dash for tickets for Sheffield United’s play-off final got under way today – with the first batch going on sale at 9am.

Supporters who have followed their team up and down the country on the road to promotion and have 18,000 or more loyalty points could queue up at Bramall Lane between 9am and 2pm today to buy two tickets per person.

They could also apply online and over the phone.

Those with 15,000 points were allowed to buy tickets between 2.30pm and 9pm.

Sheffield United has been allocated 39,800 tickets for the game on Saturday, May 26.

The match could see the Blades promoted from League One to the Championship after they lost out to city rivals Sheffield Wednesday for automatic promotion in the last game of the season.

Blades fans stormed the pitch at Bramall Lane on Monday night when their team beat Stevenage 1-0 in the second leg of the play-off semi-final to secure a place at Wembley.

Sheffield United’s share of the seats is in the East Side of the stadium, with prices ranging from £88 to £17.

The club’s managing director, Dave McCarthy, said he hoped Blades fans would follow the team to London for the final.

“There is certainly a buzz about the place among staff, players and supporters – as soon as we opened up after the semi the phones started ringing non-stop with people wanting to know ticket arrangements.

“I think every member of staff must have received 100 texts too.

“We are trying to do our best to get everyone down there because this final for us is all about the fans – they have supported us all the way through the season and we hope they follow us to Wembley too.

“It promises to be a fantastic occasion and I would not want to be the fan who misses it.”

Tickets go on sale tomorrow for fans with 12,000 loyalty points between 9am and 2pm.

Those with 8,000 loyalty points can buy them between 2.30pm and 9pm.

On Friday tickets go on sale between 9am and 2pm for fans with 5,000 loyalty points and between 2.30pm and 9pm fans with 2,500 loyalty points can apply as well as Super Draw Members, Blades Members and Official Supporters Club Members, who must buy their tickets in person and show their cards.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Saturday.
