SHEFFIELD MP Paul Blomfield sat down for tea as he visited a student initiative.

The Labour MP for Sheffield Central visited the Winter Garden to join a community tea party, where students were offering free tea, sandwiches and cupcakes.

The party was one of a series of events being held in the city centre Winter Garden as part of Student Week during half-term.

Event organisers said: “It is a week-long celebration which showcases the positive contributions students make to Sheffield.

“Both Sheffield Hallam and Sheffield University students dedicate a lot of time and effort to their work with schools, community groups and fundraising for charities, so why not show it off?

“The universities have been working in partnership with their students’ unions to deliver the week of exciting performances and interactive activities for everyone to get involved in.

Activities at the event, which finished yesterday, have included wacky science experiments, music and dance performances, a fun nature trail and information about healthy eating.

Other attractions have included football sessions, nature crafts and healthy eating information.
