HISTORIC Dronfield Woodhouse Methodist Church has been sold to a local buyer who intends to convert it into a residential property.

The church, which dates back to 1848, stands at the junction of Northern Common and Holmesfield Road, facing down Carr Lane.

It was sold by SMC Chartered Surveyors for “considerably more” than the £125,000 asking price.

Known as ‘Top Chapel’, it was built at a time when the population of Dronfield Woodhouse was growing rapidly but held its final service in October 2009.
