THESE city lifeguards are celebrating achieving some of the highest scores among their colleagues in a national competition.
Michelle Ranby, Oli Simpson and Olivia Rawlinson, who work at Ponds Forge, were awarded the venue’s top results in the annual Lifeguard Triathlon.
Oli won the top male title, scoring 83 out of a possible 100 points, while 22-year-old Michelle won top female scoring 78.5. Olivia, also 22, was named the most improved, beating her score from last year by 15.5.
The triathlon sees participants complete activities including timed swims, CPR and life saving theory.
It is designed to reward lifeguards who demonstrate skills above the requirements of the standard National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
Michelle, who has worked at Ponds Forge for two years, said: “I was amazed to win, I didn’t expect it as it was my first time in the competition.”
