Two motorists in hospital after collision on Stocksbridge bypass

Two motorists were seriously injured in a crash at Tankersley.

A black Vauxhall Corsa and a black Fiat Punto collided on the Stocksbridge bypass, just before the Tankersley roundabout, at 12.40am on Thursday.

Police said the 20-year-old man driving the Corsa and the 46-year-old man driving the Punto were both taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Three passengers in the Corsa - a 20-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman and 17-year-old - were also taken to hospital for treatment.

The collision led to the closure of the road while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A police investigation into the circumstances is now underway.

Witnesses should call police on 101 .
