COLOURFUL cultures from across the globe were explored by youngsters at a museum event.

World Wednesday at Weston Park Museum in Sheffield was a chance for families to enjoy music, arts and craft inspired by societies all over the globe.

Children soon got stuck in by getting their hands on dreamcatchers, masks and other weird or wonderful objects.

Grandma Margaret Allsop - whose grandson Nathen Coldicott attended the World Wednesday event - said: “He thoroughly enjoyed the day.

“All the youngsters were running around and having a good look at things in the exhibition.”

The event was held to celebrate the Treasures Gallery at Weston Park, which has been transformed to showcase some of the remarkable highlights of the Sheffield Museum’s World Cultures collection.

It traces the fascinating history of objects that have travelled many thousands of miles to the region and it explores their links with Sheffield and its people.
