SHEFFIELD United manager Danny Wilson praised the record results this year at King Ecgbert School in Dore.
He was special guest at a GCSE and BTEC presentation evening last Thursday, presenting certificates and awards and congratulating young people on their achievements, which included an all-time high 76% pass rate in five A*-Cs, including English and maths.
Half of the students gained three or more A* and A grades – the top performance of any city secondary school.
Headteacher Lesley Bowes said: “These results are a fantastic testimony to the hard work of the students and the support of teachers, parents and carers and I am so proud of our GCSE class of 2011. While the results are stunning, King Ecgbert is about more than examination success, and the school equips our young people with all the skills required to develop their full potential.”
Danny Wilson also presented achievement awards to students currently in Y11 for their attainment and progress in Y10.
