Hallam FM’s Big John @Breakfast co-presenter lost an on air quiz and was told she had to do a tandem parachute jump.

What she didn’t know was that her boyfriend of seven years, Steve Marsh, a children’s TV star, was in the same plane jumping ahead of her.

He had a scarf masking his face.

And as she landed just after him, he walked over, got down on one knee and proposed.

Janine couldn’t believe her eyes or ears and burst into laughter, as she screamed “yes”.

“I had just had the biggest adrenalin rush of my life, followed by something I had been waiting for, for such a long time.

“It was just a double amazing thing to happen.

“I didn’t realise he was in the plane going up. I was too busy looking out and thinking about not hurting myself on landing.

“The guys on the jump were in on it and were also distracting me, telling me to look outside sat the view. I didn’t have a clue.

Steve, best known to youngsters as Big Cook Ben, from CBeebies TV show Big Cook - Little Cook. said: “We were literally sat next to one another in the plane the whole flight up. I had a mask over my face and gave her the thumbs up.

“I went first and I had the ring in my pocket as Janine landed on her bum, with the parachute over her face. I went over and proposed.”

The couple haven’t set a wedding date yet but Steve quipped: “I’m happy to wait another seven years.”

Janine snapped back: “If he does make me wait that long I’ll throw him out next time - without a parachute.”

Big John, who was there to congratulate them both, said: “Janine assumed a proposal was never going to happen, especially after work commitments meant Steve had to turn down a free wedding this summer.

“It was a great day especially as she jumped in aid of Hallam FM’s Cash For Kids. Well done Janine, and congratulations from everyone at Big John @ Breakfast, Hallam FM and www.skydiving.co.uk.”
