Sheffield foodies were able to grab some of the best grub the region has to offer this weekend when the city’s premiere food festival returned.

The weather remained sunny in the city as hundreds packed out the Peace Gardens to sample some of the culinary delights on offer.

From artisan bread to Lebanese street food and organic ice cream, there was something on offer to suit all tastes at the festival, which continues today.

Ellie James, of Attercliffe, said she had enjoyed sampling some of the wide range of food and drink on sale.

The 38-year-old added: “I don’t think I’ve eaten so much in ages! I can’t believe how much there is here this time, I’ve been before but they’ve definitely excelled themselves today.”

For those wanting to enjoy a bank-holiday tipple, there was also plenty to choose from with a number of beer tents serving up ales and ciders.

Junaj Sott of Cossack Cuisine said it had been a very busy weekend for vendors.

He said: “We keep selling out, it’s been great. Our most popular dish was our smoked ham sausage rolls.”

There were also cooking demonstrations at the event organised by Sheffield City Council.
