VIDEO: Woman left with serious injuries after crash between bin lorry and car on Sheffield road

A 26-year-old woman has been taken to hospital after a bin lorry and a car collided on a Sheffield road earlier this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Plymouth Road at the junction of Abbeydale Road around 12.27pm today.

Two fire crews from Central station attended the incident alongside police who closed parts of the road off.

An ambulance and a rapid response unit also attended to the 26-year-old woman who was later taken to Northern General Hospital.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police attended the scene of a road traffic collision where a 26-year-old woman suffered serious injuries but they are not though to be life threatening.”

Traffic is said to be moving slowly in both directions on Abbeydale Road between Archer Road and Woodseats Road.
