STRIKES at Sheffield recycling centres and the Remploy factory in Chesterfield are going ahead.
Household waste recycling centre workers walk out today and tomorrow in protest at cuts to working hours and over a pay dispute.
Meanwhile, Remploy workers in Chesterfield are going on strike from 6am on Monday until 6am on Friday.
The walkout involves more than 100 disabled people employed at the site, which is among nine Remploy factories set to be sold rather than closed. The Government is ending Remploy’s subsidy because ministers say the funding can be used to help more people by providing help for private firms to employ disabled people.
The future of Remploy’s Sheffield factory, on Brightside Lane, has not yet been decided.
