A well-known former Doncaster school headteacher has died at the age of 74.

David Loy, who was in charge of both Sprotbrough's Richmond Hill and Denaby Main Primary School during his career, died earlier this month.

Mr Loy, who retired in 2002, died in Rotherham General Hospital on August 11.

The Swinton-based man was described in an obituary as "the loved husband and best friend of Sue."

His funeral will take place at St Margaret's Parish Church, Swinton on August 25 at 11am and afterwards at Swinton Masonic Hall.
