MEDIA and business studies students are getting the chance to tune in to the world of radio and produce their own breakfast show - thanks to Real Radio Yorkshire.

It is about to run a five-day course to give an experienced insight into how a commercial radio station operates.

The Real Radio Media School will deliver practical sessions on topics such as programming, sales, promotions, marketing and news.

On the final day students will get to present their version of a breakfast show, as well as selling, writing and recording an advert and designing a marketing campaign.

The students will be mentored by Real Radio presenters, producers, journalists and members of the sales and marketing team, all of whom will share their wealth of knowledge and experience.

Jamie Fletcher, senior news broadcast journalist and course leader, said:“This is a really exciting opportunity for media, journalism and business students.

“Real Radio Media School will give students a real flavour of how a commercial radio station works.

“Our business is not just about presenting and this course gets under the skin of radio and is ideal for anyone who wants to learn about the many skills needed to operate different areas of a radio station.”

A bite-sized version of their renowned Real Academy, it run from Monday to Friday, October 29 to November 2.

Applications, open to business and media students, should be made before Monday. To enrol, or for details, visit www.realradioyorkshire.co.uk
