A YOUNG diving prodigy is rubbing shoulders with Great Britain’s sporting elite following a string of successes.

Schoolgirl Sepohra Ford met Olympic hopeful Tom Daley at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge after scooping a medal in the sport.

So far this year, the eight-year-old has won first place in the gym section of the national Talent Identification Divers games, where she also won third place in the 3m entries.

On top of this, she won silver at Shipley Novices diving competition and qualified for the National Skills Finals in Southampton.

Sepohra, a pupil of Sheffield High School, has also progressed to the Elite Development 3 squad of the City of Sheffield Diving Club.

A school spokeswoman said: “Since being selected for the Talent Identification squad in 2010, Sephora has been enjoying her diving. She now trains three times a week at Ponds Forge.”
