I’m sure residents across Crookes and Walkley will be enjoying the new road surfaces laid down by the Streets Ahead project.
I’m delighted that the Liberal Democrats in Government were able to secure over £1 billion to enable the project to go ahead and help Sheffield lose its reputation as ‘pot-hole city’.
However, local residents are still concerned about problems of flooding due to leaves covering the new gully grates.
When the Liberal Democrats controlled the council, money was devolved to communities to spend on local priorities like clearing leaves. But this Labour council have abandoned communities and stopped local residents from having their say by moving money to their own favoured projects.
If this issue is not addressed, then flooding will remain a constant problem for pedestrians and motorists alike.
