Youths admit attack on man

''The man was punched several times to the face leaving him with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain. ''Maltby, of Hazelhurst Avenue, Chesterfield pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm at Derby Crown Court and was sentenced following a hearing on Friday, January 13. ''Two 17-year-old boys were also charged in connection with the assault. ''One pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm and received a 12 month detention and training order. The other admitted affray and was given a six month detention and training order.

A TEENAGER has been sentenced to 16 months in a young offenders’ institution for an unprovoked attack which left a man with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain.

Jordan Maltby, aged 18, of Hazelhurst Avenue, was one of three teenagers who attacked a 45-year-old man as he and his girlfriend walked along Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, in May last year.

The man was punched a number of times in his face.

Maltby pleaded guilty at Derby Crown Court to inflicting grievous bodily harm.

A 17-year-old boy also charged over the incident received a 12-month detention and training order after pleading guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm. Another 17-year-old was given a six-month detention and training order after admitting affray.
