A SOUTH Yorkshire thug who attacked three people in Rotherham town centre just weeks after being released from prison has received a cut in his jail term.
Jason Frewer, of Cavendish Road, Holmes, Rotherham, was originally sentenced to two years behind bars for the attack carried out with co-defendant Michael Jewitt, from Hull.
Frewer, aged 26, had not been out of prison long when he and Jewitt began
accosting three people at around 12.30am in Rotherham town centre on July 25 last year.
After pushing one of them to the ground and striking him, Frewer demanded £10 from each of them.
The pair then walked away, but after an exchange of insults trouble erupted again and resulted in all three men – including their intended victim – being charged with affray.
Frewer pleaded guilty at Sheffield Crown Court in April and was sentenced to two years in prison. But Mr Justice Tugendhat, sitting with Lord Justice Moses and Judge Gilbert QC, said the pair had not been given enough credit for their pleas of guilty and cut their sentences to 15 months.
