A DAY-long demonstration was held outside Sheffield's Showroom Cinema in support of a barman who claims he was unfairly dismissed.
Chris Lockwood, aged 28, worked at the Showroom for seven months, but says he was fired after he joined the union IWW - Industrial Workers of the World.

Chris believes he was targeted for dismissal.

"The working conditions there are appalling and so that's why I joined the union," he said.

"Someone overheard some of the managers talking about how there was an active union growing and how I maybe was a union organiser. Two hours later I was fired over accusations of misconduct."

Chris said the Showroom's management had been restructured four months ago and, since then, there had been resignations and a struggle to receive holiday pay."

A spokeswoman for the Showroom said she had no comment to make.
