A MAN has appeared in court charged with robbery after three handbags were stolen from a residents' meeting in Thurgoland, Barnsley.
Dean Winrow, aged 29, of Athersley North, Barnsley, appeared before the town's magistrates on Saturday and was remanded in custody until Friday, when his case is to be heard in Sheffield Crown Court.

He is charged with three counts of robbery after an incident at Thurgoland village hall last Tuesday, when a masked raider burst in brandishing a knife during a residents' meeting.

Anyone with information should call police in Barnsley on 01226 736030 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
