A MAN climbed out of his attic window onto his roof to escape from his smoke-logged home yesterday morning.
The man, who had been in his attic room, only discovered the fire when he opened the door to go downstairs and found his house filling with smoke.

He had no working smoke alarms in the property on Shoreham Street, Highfield, so was unaware of the fire burning in his kitchen.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze.
