NEW Zealand kick boxing champions arrived in Sheffield after a marathon 37 hour journey - and went straight to meet the Lord Mayor.
Coun Jane Bird met the five strong team which is taking part in bouts at the Octagon Theatre on Sunday.

The event will see five Great Britain fighters take on their visitors, with the highlight a ladies' super welterweight pro kick boxing tie between Britain's Kerry Louise Norbury and Kiwi Georgie Tutaki.

Two Sheffield lads will also be in the GB squad, Alex McKenzie and Scott Sykes.

The event, called Showdown 4, is officially sanctioned by WAKO, the sport's world governing body and the first bout starts at 4.30pm.
