CHANGES are being made at a busy South Yorkshire junction where alterations carried out just weeks ago led to traffic chaos.
The Highways Agency carried out resurfacing works and modified lane markings at the A61/A616 Tankersley roundabout, hoping to improve traffic flows and road safety.
But instead there have been huge tailbacks and a flood of complaints from angry mo
torists.
One motorist said: "The changes mean everyone heading north on the A61 has to go in the right-hand lane unless going left to Stockbridge."
Phillip Wood, aged 63, of Wilson Road, Deepcar, said: "Since they made the changes it is appalling.
"There are now major problems for all traffic."
Now Highways Agency bosses have made urgent changes. A spokesman said: "As a result of feedback from members of the public and local authorities, necessary amendments to lane markings have been identified."
