Plea to save steel industry

A PETITION calling for Government intervention to save the steel industry is being launched in Rotherham today.
Rotherham MP Denis MacShane, Wentworth MP John Healey, Rotherham Council leader Coun Roger Stone and Chris Chesters, Chief Executive of the South Yorkshire Workplace Chaplaincy, will be among the first to put sign the document.

The launch follows
mass redundancies announced by Corus just over a week ago. It is taking place in All Saints Square from 1.30pm today.

The petition will be available to sign in the Town Hall.
