THIS scabby-faced sexual predator repeatedly raped a hotel worker while holding her hostage at knifepoint.
Now David Charles Ashforth, aged 44, is behind bars indefinitely after admitting rape, assault, and false imprisonment. Ashforth - already a convicted sex offender - attacked the woman in the Rotherham hotel where she worked after entering the building as a trespasser. Armed with a knife, he trapped the woman in a hotel room where he subjected her to a horrendous sexual assault for over 25 minutes before fleeing.
But police caught up with Ashforth, of no fixed abode but who is known to live in the Rotherham area, just three days after the attack on March 18 this year.

Initially he denied the sickening crime but he later confessed when he appeared before Sheffield Crown Court. He denied a third count of rape which the court agreed to lay on file.

Ashforth, who has previously served jail terms for sexual assault of a child under 13 and robbery, was jailed indefinitely for the public's protection by Judge Alan Goldsack QC, the honorary recorder of Sheffield.

Judge Goldsack set his minimum tariff at five years. Det Insp Craig Jackson from South Yorkshire Police, the officer in the case, described the crime as "horrendous".
