SHEFFIELD'S Somali community is to get a council grant - after proving to officers that it can spend the money responsibly.
The city has up to 5,000 Somali people who mainly live in Broomhall, Burngreave, Darnall and Firth Park.

For many years the council gave funding to the Somali Community Association but after problems with the group's finances the council refused to pay any more money Now a new charity, Sheffield Somali Community Centre, has been set up and has been given £16,000 for premises and running costs over 12 months.
