Substation explosion cuts power

A PROBE is underway into the cause of an explosion at an electricity substation which cut the power to homes and businesses across New Tupton, north Derbyshire.
A series of explosions were heard at around 12.30am before fire broke out at the site on Hagg Hill this morning.

It is not yet known what caused the blaze, but Derbyshire Police are treating it as suspicious.

Power was affected for around five hours.
