THE SNAKE Pass - one of the busiest routes between Sheffield and Manchester - is closed until further notice because of a landslide following heavy rain earlier this week.
Derbyshire County Council said the hillside on the A57 was still moving and it was not yet known when repairs to the road surface would be carried out.

A spokeswoman said: "There has been a major landslip due to the amount of rain we've had recen
tly. The land was still slipping yesterday and we can't assess the damage until it stops moving."

The road, which is closed between Glossop and the Ladybower Reservoir, is expected to be shut until at least next week.

Access to the Snake Pass Inn is still possible.
