THREE men have appeared in court in connection with millions of pounds missing from South Yorkshire Trading Standards Unit.
The trio appeared at Sheffield Crown Court charged with conspiracy to false account following a police investigation which revealed a £7 million hole in the unit's finances.
Severe financial irregularities were discovered at SYTSU following the death of its manager Michael Buckley in 2005.
None of the men, David Abbot, aged 61, of Water-thorpe Crescent, Water-thorpe, William Whitehead, 62, of Chesterfield, and Paul Liggins, 54, of Northampton, worked for the unit. They provided services to it through their companies.
The men will reappear in court on February 2.
