PASSENGERS on a train travelling through Sheffield had a lucky escape when young yobs threw stones shattering two windows.
British Transport Police say a group of youths were seen hurling stones at the Scun-thorpe to Gainsborough train from a bridge at Woodhouse.

The youths were described as aged just 11 to 14.

Sgt Mick Dawes, of British Transport Police, said: "Th
is type of behaviour can have serious consequences. There is potential for a serious accident to be caused or injury to the train's passengers and staff.

"Thankfully, on this occasion, no-one was hurt. Nevertheless I would urge anyone who may have witnessed anything to contact us."

All the yobs were wearing blue baseball caps, and two were wearing white Real Madrid football shirts.

Anyone with information about the attack should call 0800 40 50 40.
