PROTESTERS grabbed placards and set off on an uphill mission to prove exactly why they need to save their Sheffield post office.
The Save Silverhill Post Office campaign already has 3,000 signatures on its petition and the aim of Saturday's protest was to show how difficult access will be once the latest phase of closures have gone ahead.
The group wanted to highlight just how hard it will be for elderly and disabled people to reach their alternative post office.
David Patmore, who has been chairing meetings of the Silverhill Action Group, said: "We want to show people what a really popular post office this is.
"The reaction on the doorstep has been on of horror at the closure when we have been round the local area."
Organiser Joe Buckley, of Dobbin Hill, added: "Post Office Ltd have just not bothered about the hills in Sheffield in proposing to close Parkhead and Silverhill.
"Closing two post offices near to each other is going to leave many people with more than a mile to travel to their nearest one."
The Silverhill campaign is also planning a public meeting about the closures in Ecclesall Parish Hall at 7.15pm on Thursday September 18 and everyone is welcome to go along.
