A SHOCKED Sheffield woman was woken in the middle of the night to find a man bleeding on her doorstep after being stabbed in the head.
Lisa Dell was woken just after midnight yesterday to find the man standing outside her house in Queen Mary Road, Manor, close to the entrance of Manor Fields.
He was bleeding heavily from a knife wound and was shouting up at the house: "I have bee
n stabbed in the head, please call an ambulance."
The 34-year-old raised the alarm and rushed outside to help, where she tried to stop the bleeding with towels and keep the victim conscious.
Today her sister Keeley, 23, said she believed Lisa's actions had saved the man's life.
She said: "There're a lot of people who would just ignore something like that in this day and age. But she did what she thought was best and I think she saved his life. She had towels to try and stop the bleeding and was talking to him to keep him awake.
"A lot of people would have been too scared to even open the door but I think her bravery helped him to survive."
A police cordon was yesterday thrown around the cluster of houses at the end of the road and on Manor Fields.
Police scenes of crime officers finished their investigations at around 1pm but blood could still be seen outside Ms Dell's front door.
Another nearby resident, who didn't want to be named, said she was woken by shouting and looked out of the window to see a man lying in the road at the end of the street.
She said he made his way to her neighbour's house and asked her to call an ambulance.
The woman said: "My kids play out around here and it is a bit worrying having something like this happen so close to home.
"But it's happening all over the place now, sadly."
South Yorkshire Police confirmed they are investigating the incident, which happened at around 12.12am.
A spokeswoman said another man was also stabbed, although neither of the attacks were thought to be life threatening.
Anyone with information should contact Moss Way CID on 0114 2963504.
