And how can a couple prevent the terms from being picked up by the press?
In this podcast Martin Loxley, partner and head of Family Law at Irwin Mitchell, advices on whether terms surrounding a divorce are public or private, and what can be done to ensure it does not leak to the media.

"The terms are very much private. They should not be reported. There is an obligation on the couple to keep confidential their financial affairs and the terms of any divorce or financial settlement," said Loxley.

"What we're finding is that increasingly, where the couple have some form of celebrity status, they want to enter into a confidentiality or a non disclosure agreement," he continued.
