The Scimitars have signed on fans' favourite Peter Slamiars for the new season.
A delighted chairman Martin Birch said: "Peter was popular with the team and a definite fans' favourite, and for me he has a lot more to offer the game which will show from the first drop of the puck.
"One great thing about Peter is that he is a
man of his word. Despite an Elite league team offering him a contract which would have more than doubled his earnings, he decided to return to the Scimitars as his heart is with Sheffield, and because the fans were so good to him".
After coach Ron Shudra had secured his signature, he said: "It's great to have Peter back on board, He is such an asset for our team. He is an explosive skater and an excellent puck handler.
He has great determination and attitude, in the dressing room he is a leader and that is what we are looking for."
Speaking from his home in Slovakia, Peter said: "I can't wait to return to Sheffield for the new season, to get back on the ice and meet up with my team mates, old and new, as well as the fans".
Slamiar, who was an NHL draft pick for the New York Rangers in 1995, ended last season as top goalscorer and second in points for the Scimitars, and finished seventh top points scorer in the EPL.
