It was celebrations all round at Sheffield High School as the Combined Athletics team brought back the National GDST Overall Athletics Cup for the second time in their history as well as the Year 8 Team Trophy.
The party of almost 40 athletes from Sheffield High travelled down to Bath and stayed overnight before the big event.

The GDST (Girls' Day School Trust) Athletics Competition in Bath involves one athlete from each year group, Year 7, 8, 9 and Seniors, in every event, track and field.

The points from each event are totalled and trophies awarded to the best teams and then also the Overall Trophy to the school with the greatest number of points. All 25 Day Schools in the country are eligible.

As the results were given out, it was excitement all round in the Sheffield camp as they had top four placements in every age group including an outstanding win in the Year 8 competition.

Second in PE Emma Davidson said: "As they started to announce the overall points totals, we knew we would be in the running, but when they declared us the Champions, there was the loudest Yorkshire roar!'

This prestigious trophy has only been won once before by Sheffield High School back in 2004.
