SHEFFIELD Steelers are finding life tough back in the Men's North of England League Premier Division.
Two successive defeats tells its own story for the Abbeydale-based first team - the latest a 9-6 defeat at home to Boardman and Eccles despite dominating play and having an incredible 40 shots on goal.
Dave Alcock hit the posts five times but did
get on the scoresheet alongside Rob Hopkins and Ben Lyon who each scored twice and Alex Williams.
It leaves them second from bottom but co-captain Sam Glover is confident they will get better as the season progresses, especially with the return of key players.
"It's still early days and we've just got to keep working hard. If we do that then I'm sure results will start to go our way."
Steelers travel to face former Premier Division winners Mellor tomorrow.
The A team beat Heaton Mersey B 11-7 to go top of Division 3 and they look to maintain their run of form when they host Rochdale A tomorrow who tumbled to a 15-2 defeat against Sheffield University. The University side entertain Brooklands Hulmeians.
A five-goal flurry from Dan Ievers helped Steelers Under-16s ease their way to a comfortable 13-5 victory over Poynton. They led by four at half-time and although this was cut to three in the third quarter, they finished off with a six-goal spree to run out comfortable winners. Adam Jordan, Tom Gilbert and Oliver Wilde scored doubles while Mazin Alneaimi and Tom Elleker added one each.
The Under-14s continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 27-7 romp against Heaton Mersey. The victory was set up by a vintage display by the midfield that overwhelmed their opponents. Goal-happy Dale and Rosario headed the rampage with 10 and nine goals respectively while doubles came from Aspin, Bowery and Moroney. Ogle added the other.
They travel to Stockport tomorrow.
