Owls back free coaching campaign

A campaign backed by Sheffield Wednesday to provide free football coaching and activity sessions for more than 1,000 children and young people across the city is set to kick off next week.
Wednesday's Community Programme has teamed up with Frank Haslam Milan (FHM), Sportsmatch and a number of other partners to provide a huge range of activities for youngsters.

The programme starts next Monday with free coaching and knockout tourname
nts every day throughout the summer. It is estimated that more than 300 youngsters will be taking part each week.

Led by Marcus Brameld, Wednesday's Community Manager, the event is part of a £75,000 three year campaign to provide positive activities and opportunities for young people throughout the city.

Launching the scheme, Owls manager Brian Laws said: "This is a terrific programme, which the club is proud to support. We aim to get hundreds of children and families involved and make a real positive impact right across the city."

The events will be held from Monday to Friday, between 10am to 2pm, at the following venues:

Monday: Skye Edge Playing Fields, Skye Edge; Tuesday: Mansel Primary School, Mansel Crescent; Wednesday: Steel City Playing Fields, Shiregreen; Thursday: Skye Edge Playing Fields, Skye Edge and Handsworth Community Park; Friday: Athelstan Primary School, Richmond Park Drive.

The events are open to boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 14.
A celebration day at Steel City Playing Fields )is planned for the end of August.
